Born and raised in Gorgora, Ethiopia, Kiros Asmamaw completed his primary and secondary education locally before pursuing higher studies. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Addis Ababa University in 1987, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the Open University in the United Kingdom in 2000.

Mr. Asmamaw brings more than fifteen years of progressive leadership experience in Ethiopia, where he successfully managed both governmental and private sector enterprises. Notably, he served for a decade as the manager of a block manufacturing company employing more than 250 staff. His professional background encompasses extensive expertise in accounting, finance, corporate management, and business development.

He is currently an accomplished real estate professional, licensed in the states of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (2017) and a Bachelor of Education in Physics (2009) from Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia.

While in Ethiopia, he worked in various schools as a physics teacher and also served as a civil engineer for a general contractor in the Amhara Region.

Currently, he works in the Geotechnical Department at AB Consultants Inc. in Maryland, USA.

Aysheshm Kassahun, Treasurer
Olney, Maryland

Aysheshm Kassahun is a Senior Consultant at Deloitte, bringing an extensive background in scientific research and global health to his work.

Originally from Gorgora, Ethiopia, Aysheshm began his academic journey at Addis Ababa University, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his master’s degree in medical Parasitology. He later relocated to Prague to attend Charles University, completing his PhD in Molecular Parasitology and Epidemiology.

Beyond his professional achievements, Aysheshm remains deeply committed to the prosperity of his hometown, Gorgora. This spirit of service is a family legacy; his father, Kassahun Gelaglie, is a revered figure in the community who dedicated his life to education and practical empowerment, teaching the local essential skills in gardening and fishing.

Inspired by his father’s example, Aysheshm and his family continue to be passionate advocates for addressing the issues facing the Gorgora community today.
